Daimler Scout Car Mk III
My decent into madness is quite complete. For such a small vehicle this was alot of work. Aside from the tires and the Bren gun everything on this puppy was made from scratch. The vehicle is marked for the Guards Armored Division, the red square with the numeral 50 indentifies it as belonging to HQ Armored Brigade. The paint scheme is known unofficially as "Mickey Mouse" because the overlapping black circles gave the appearance of the famous cartoons head. The star on the bonnet (that's what it's called!) was a universally adapted symbol of all allied countries during 1943, presumably to help with aerial recognition.  The actual cammo pattern is a virtual copy cat of the Dingo in the Kruse musuem. Interestingly enough I've found another Dingo that has an identical pattern with the addition of the star. I still have a Mk 19 Wireless set to install as well as loading it down with gear and of course some dirt, dust and grunge. In the meantime it's presentable enough to put on the shelf where it will be sidelined while I toil away on kit parts.
